Mark Temple is based in Sydney Australia and was a founding member of The Hummingbirds pop band. Following a successful stint of recording and playing music during the late 1980’s and early 90’s Mark left the band to pursue a career in science and is currently an academic at Western Sydney University.
Recently the The Hummingbirds reformed and were recording new material but this sadly came to an end with Simon’s passing. A period of introspection passed and now Mark has recorded “Heads I Win”, a solo record whereby Mark played all drums, bass and guitars, wrote and sang all of the songs and carried out all of the recording and production.
Foolishly I recorded and produced this myself which was more taxing than I envisaged. Being both the creative artist and the technician lead to some interesting internal discussions.
Me says "I think that was a good take what do you reckon?"
Me responds "Nope it had more energy before - you should do it again!"
Me says "But the drums were too busy, how can I sing over that..."
Me responds "well you should have played something else..."
... and so it goes.
